Rachel Rabhan received her Bachelor of Science with a double major in Art History and Fine Arts at New York University in 1997. In 2006 she completed her Masters of Fine Arts in Photography, Video and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts. Her mentors include Charles Traub, Stephen Shore, Collier Schorr, Phillip Perkis, and Sarah Charlesworth. Divine Gesture was featured in The Early Work, curated by Marvin Heiferman at the Visual Arts Gallery in Chelsea; the Garden of Eden series from Divine Gesture was displayed in Postpartum, curated by Richard Brooks. The summer of 2008, works from Divine Gesture were exhibited in Freeway Balconies, curated by Collier Schorr at the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin. Ms. Rabhan is entering her seventeenth year as an art instructor and head of the photography program at her alma mater, the Ramaz High School in New York City, where Divine Gesture was set.
